Las Vegas is one of those places where you can really wear almost anything. It definitely has a reputation for being over-the-top, and in many ways that’s true — but the reality is more varied than people expect. The city attracts all kinds of visitors, and the outfit choices reflect that, ranging from casual daytime looks to full glam at night.

I’ve visited Las Vegas more than a dozen times over the years, so I’ve seen a wide range of fashion choices firsthand.

If you’re trying to figure out what to wear in Vegas, this guide will help you plan outfits that feel fun, appropriate, and still like you.

Classy Las Vegas Outfits

Below I go through outfit ideas for common occasions in Las Vegas. This should help you decide what to wear during the day, at the pool, for dinner, at a club, and more.

Most outfits here are geared toward warmer months in Las Vegas. If you’re visiting in winter, you’ll need a few warmer layers. Toward the bottom of this post I’ve included seasonal tips plus a weekend packing list.

Daytime Outfits Las Vegas

Wondering what to wear in Las Vegas during the day? Whether you’re spending a casual afternoon at your hotel, shopping, visiting a museum, walking the Strip, or heading to brunch, for daytime most outfits lean casual.

In Vegas, bold colors and fun pieces are always welcome, even for casual looks. That said, sequins and feathers might feel a little over-the-top for daytime activities.

Then again, anything really does go here — so wear what you like. Just know that most people dress a bit more toned down during the day.

If you plan on walking the Strip, comfortable shoes are a must. The casino resorts are massive, and it often takes much longer than expected to walk what looks like a short distance on the map. I love Adidas Sneakers for long days on my feet and some of my friends swear by Dr Scholl’s Time Off Sneaker.

During summer you’ll want to dress for very hot weather outside. But inside the casinos, restaurants, and malls, the AC is blasting, so a lightweight cardigan or long sleeve layer can come in handy.

Casual Pool Day

Planning a laid-back pool day in Las Vegas?

Unless you’re attending a pool party, a simple look — think a cute swimsuit and comfortable sandals — is all you really need for relaxing poolside.

Most hotel pools provide free towels, and you’ll typically find plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas available.

Don’t forget your sunscreen!

Las Vegas Pool Party Outfits 

A pool party in Las Vegas is very different from a typical hotel pool day. Think nightclub… but poolside. Expect loud music, DJs, bottle service, and lots of people partying in the Vegas sun.

Fun swimsuits, stylish cover-ups, full makeup, and wedge heels are all common here. Yes — this is one of the only times heels by the pool might actually make sense. While some people get in the pool, many don’t — it’s completely up to you.

One thing to keep in mind: unless you reserve a cabana, shade can be limited.

Also, most Vegas day clubs do not allow large bags, although lockers are usually available for a small fee.

Planning a day trip to somewhere nearby like Valley of Fire State Park or heading out on an ATV tour? When it comes to Las Vegas day trips, you can leave the over-the-top Vegas fashion behind. Practicality wins when exploring the desert surrounding the city.

Lightweight breathable clothing, good sun protection, and plenty of water are essential under the intense desert sun. Winter visitors will still want sun protection, but you’ll likely need pants and a light jacket as well.

If you’re visiting in summer, it’s usually necessary to avoid outdoor activities like hiking during the middle of the day — the desert heat here is no joke.

Spring and fall visitors usually get the best weather for exploring nearby parks. Days are warm and pleasant, although mornings and evenings can cool off quickly.

For most restaurants, a slightly more polished version of your daytime outfit works perfectly. Dark jeans and a nice top or a simple dress are appropriate for many places.

That said, plenty of people enjoy dressing up for dinner in Vegas — especially if they’re heading somewhere nice. This is a great time to add fun accessories, bold colors, or a trendier piece.

If you’re planning to dine at a high-end restaurant, it’s always a good idea to check the dress code in advance.

Nighttime Outfits – Casual & Walking The Strip

If you’re spending the evening doing casual activities — walking the Strip, exploring Fremont Street, or wandering through casinos — you can wear almost anything.

There aren’t many rules for nighttime outfits in Vegas unless you’re going to a club.

You’ll see everything from sequin dresses and sky-high heels to cargo shorts and pajama pants all in the same crowd.

You could wear your same casual dinner outfit, or even your club outfit while strolling the Strip — you’ll fit right in either way.

For shoes, dressy flats, comfortable heels, or fashion sneakers are all fine. If you plan on walking a lot though, comfortable shoes will make a big difference.

Nighttime Outfits – Casino

If you’re planning to spend the night gambling, most people tend to dress up a little.

Dark jeans with a cute top or a casual dress work perfectly well. That said, in the evenings you’ll notice many people dress a bit more stylishly — especially at upscale casinos.

Casino outfits can be fun. You can go bold with feathers, sequins, tassels, and statement accessories, or keep things simple with sleek trousers or a classic cocktail dress.

Just keep in mind that casinos are usually kept pretty cold inside.

Nighttime Outfits – Clubbing

Las Vegas nightclubs typically have strict dress codes. Over-the-top glam is the norm here.

Many clubs require cocktail-style attire — think dresses and heels. Vegas is definitely one of those places where you may be turned away if you arrive in jeans or sandals.

Classic pieces like a little black dress work well, especially with a fun twist like sequins, feathers, or a bold color. If you’ve got a playful statement piece sitting in your closet, Vegas is the perfect place to wear it.

Many clubs publish their dress code online, so it’s worth checking their website before heading out.

Outside of summer, you may want a leather jacket or fitted blazer to wear while walking between venues. Even though the days are hot, nights can cool off quickly.

Summer in Las Vegas is extremely hot. Expect regular highs above 100°F, intense sun, and very little rain.

Lightweight breathable clothing and strong sun protection — sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat — are essential.

Also remember that the AC is blasting almost everywhere indoors, so having a lightweight layer can be surprisingly useful.

• January – 59° / 28°
• February – 66° / 33°

Winter in Las Vegas is much cooler than many people expect.

Nighttime temperatures can dip below freezing, while daytime highs are usually in the 50s and 60s. The desert sun often makes it feel warmer during the day.

Jeans, long sleeve tops, t-shirts, and light jackets work well this time of year. You’ll also want warmer layers for nighttime, especially if you plan on walking the Strip.

Fall is one of the best times to visit Las Vegas.

The weather is warm but much more comfortable than summer, making it a great time to walk the Strip, take day trips to nearby parks, or spend time at the pool.

You’ll mostly want summer-style outfits, but bring a few warmer layers since temperatures drop noticeably at night.

Spring is another great season to visit Vegas.

The weather is usually warm and pleasant, with little rain. It’s a great time to explore the surrounding desert, play golf, or relax by the pool.

Summer-style outfits usually work well, but evenings can still feel cool, so having a light jacket is helpful.

Las Vegas Packing List

Below is a simple packing list for a short Las Vegas trip.

This example is based on a 2-day trip during warmer months.
