Sunset River Cruise In Paris: A Perfect Evening On The Seine

There’s something undeniably magical about seeing Paris from the Seine, especially as the sun sets and the city lights begin to shimmer.

During my first trip to Paris we enjoyed a sunset happy hour cruise with Les Vedettes du Pont Neuf and absolutely loved it. The excursion was among my favorites! It’s such a fun way to see a few of the city’s famous landmarks while unwinding with a cocktail in hand.

Below is information about the exact river cruise I booked, but keep in mind there are many different options available and additional tour companies out there, choose whichever suits you best.

Whether it’s your first time in Paris or you’ve visited before, the Sunset Happy Hour Cruise with Les Vedettes du Pont Neuf is one of the best ways to experience the city’s beauty during golden hour.

Paris Sunset River Cruise With Les Vedettes du Pont Neuf

The cruise departs from Pont Neuf, Paris’ oldest bridge, which is centrally located in the Latin Quarter, making it easy to reach.

As we stepped onto the boat, the atmosphere was laid-back yet lively, with passengers choosing between indoor seating or the open-air deck for the best views. A drink was included with the ticket, I opted for a beer while my cousin grabbed a glass of Champagne.

Once we set out on the water, the magic truly began. The Seine River winds through the heart of Paris, and from the water, you get a front-row seat to some of the city’s most iconic landmarks.

The boat glided past the Louvre, Musée d’Orsay, and Notre-Dame, all illuminated by the golden light of dusk, and we passed under numerous bridges, from the elegant Pont des Arts to the ornate Pont Alexandre III.

As the sky deepened into twilight, the cruise reached its highlight — the Eiffel Tower sparkling for the first time that night.

Seeing it sparkle from the river was nothing short of incredible. This moment alone made the cruise worth it.

After watching the Eiffel Tower sparkle, we grabbed another drink and relaxed while soaking in the magic of Paris. It was so fun to admire the city’s pretty buildings while waving back at pedestrians hanging out along the Seine.

My only complaint is that the ride wasn’t longer, the tour was an hour, but I easily could’ve enjoyed twice as much time on the river.

Why Should You Choose This Cruise?

There are many different cruises to choose from, which one is best for you will vary.

Compared to other Seine cruises, this one felt more relaxed and social, thanks to the happy hour setting.

While some boat tours lean heavily on narration, this one provided just the right amount of commentary — enough to appreciate what we were seeing without overwhelming the experience.

And unlike the larger, often more crowded dinner cruises, the Les Vedettes du Pont Neuf cruise felt intimate and budget-friendly. It’s perfect for those who want a casual yet memorable way to see the city.

Booking & Riding Tips

Below is a bit of additional information and tips for your ride.

  • Ticket Prices & Duration: The cruise lasts about an hour, with tickets priced around €23–€25, and includes one drink.
  • Booking in Advance: Sunset cruises are popular, especially in spring and summer, so reserving ahead is recommended. During our trip in early March we booked 1 week in advance.
  • Arrive Early: Boarding is first-come, first-served, so arriving 20 – 30 minutes before departure ensures a prime spot.
  • Best Seats: The top deck offers the best views, but if it’s chilly, the enclosed lower deck is a cozy alternative.
  • Bring a Light Jacket: Even on warm days, it gets breezy on the water at night.

Where To Book

I booked the Sunset Happy Hour Cruise with Les Vedettes du Pont Neuf, you can do the same on their website at Sunset Happy Hour Cruise.

I have also seen their tours available on Viator and Get Your Guide, so if you prefer those booking platforms, check them out instead.

Keep in mind, the departure time is always changing depending on sunset during your visit. So in early March, I departed at 6:45 pm (18:45), in winter you’ll leave earlier, in summer, later. The ticketing system handles this automatically.

You’ll also notice this company offers additional tours like lunch and dinner cruises, rides with more narration, etc.

Whether you’re traveling solo, with friends, or as a couple, this cruise is a fantastic way to experience the city while enjoying a drink and unwinding in a truly unforgettable setting.

I hope you’ve found this helpful in planning your trip and have the best time!
