Top Bed & Breakfasts In Taos, New Mexico

Taos has some really great bed and breakfasts, which feels quite fitting for a town with so many historic adobe homes and locally owned places to stay. Most are small, individually decorated properties with gardens, courtyards, mountain views, and plenty of traditional New Mexican details.

There’s also a good variety among the properties — you can stay within walking distance of Taos Plaza, find a quieter property a few miles outside downtown, or book a historic hacienda with acres of space around you. I’ve also included a couple of small boutique inns that aren’t traditional B&Bs but offer a very similar experience.

With that said, these are my picks for the best bed and breakfasts in Taos.

Top Bed & Breakfasts In Taos, New Mexico

Dreamcatcher Bed & Breakfast

Classic Bed & Breakfast | Downtown Taos | $$ | Book Here

Dreamcatcher Bed & Breakfast is probably the most classic bed and breakfast on this list. With just seven guest rooms, it’s a small property tucked into a residential area within walking distance of Taos Plaza. The rooms surround landscaped courtyards and gardens filled with mature trees, fountains, hammocks, and plenty of places to sit outside, so you get a quieter setting without being far from downtown.

Each room and suite is individually decorated and has its own private entrance and bathroom. All include air conditioning, radiant heated floors, Wi-Fi, a Smart TV, mini refrigerator, coffee maker, and bathrobes. Depending on the room, you may also have a wood-burning kiva or gas fireplace, soaking tub, private patio, or additional living space.

The gardens are a big part of staying here, and there are plenty of places to relax outside, including hammocks and a communal fire pit. There’s also a shared indoor common area if you’d rather spend some time inside. Overall, I’d pick Dreamcatcher if you want the smaller, more personal feel of a traditional B&B while still being close enough to walk into downtown Taos.

  • Number of rooms: 7
  • Breakfast: Complimentary gourmet breakfast served daily, vegetarian and vegan diets can be accommodated with advance notice.
  • Distance from downtown: Approximately a six-block walk to Taos Plaza.

  • Pet-friendly: Pet-friendly in select circumstances; contact the property before booking.

Adobe & Pines Inn

Historic Hacienda Bed & Breakfast | Ranchos de Taos | $$$ | Book Here

Adobe & Pines Inn is a great option if you’d rather stay somewhere a little outside of town. The B&B occupies a historic adobe hacienda dating to the 1830s and sits on more than three acres in Ranchos de Taos, about four miles south of Taos Plaza. The original adobe architecture is still a big part of the property, but what really sets this one apart is the amount of space — there are gardens, orchards, and mountain views surrounding the inn.

There are just eight suites, each with its own layout and design. Depending on which one you book, you may have a wood-burning or gas fireplace, kitchenette or full kitchen, private patio, soaking tub, rooftop deck, or even a private hot tub. Some of the suites are also quite spacious and can accommodate families or groups, making this a good option if you need more room than you’d typically find at a B&B.

There’s plenty to enjoy outside the rooms too, including gardens, a meditation labyrinth, Zen garden, fire ring, and the historic Grand Portal — a long covered porch with additional space to relax outside. Guests also have access to a private sauna, which is a pretty unique perk for a small B&B, as well as EV charging stations.

  • Number of rooms: 8 suites
  • Breakfast: Complimentary gourmet breakfast served daily, dietary restrictions can be accommodated with advance notice.
  • Distance from downtown: Approximately 4 miles south of Taos Plaza.
  • Parking: On-site parking included.
  • Pet-friendly: Yes, with advance notice.

Palacio de Marquesa

Luxury Boutique Inn | Downtown Taos | $$$ | Book Here

Palacio de Marquesa isn’t a traditional bed and breakfast, but with just eight rooms and breakfast included, I think it’s worth including as a B&B-adjacent option. The property has a more contemporary, upscale look than most of the historic B&Bs around Taos, and each room is inspired by an influential woman connected to the town. Georgia O’Keeffe, Mabel Dodge Luhan, Agnes Martin, and Millicent Rogers are among the women represented throughout the property.

The eight guest rooms are individually designed with king or queen beds, fireplaces, marble bathrooms, and custom furnishings. Several also have heated Saltillo tile floors, while other features vary by room and may include a private patio, jetted soaking tub, or separate living area.

There are landscaped gardens and patios around the property, along with a shared great room and dining area. With only eight rooms, it still has the small, intimate setup you might be looking for in a B&B, just with more of an upscale boutique hotel feel.

  • Number of rooms: 8
  • Breakfast: Complimentary breakfast, served either in your room or in the great room.
  • Distance from downtown: Approximately 0.6 miles from Taos Plaza.
  • Parking: Complimentary on-site parking.
  • Pet-friendly: Yes.
