Bachelorette Party In Mexico: A Perfect Punta Mita Weekend

If you’re planning a bachelorette party that’s equal parts chill and fun, you need to consider Punta Mita, Mexico. I just got back from the perfect long weekend, and honestly I wish I was still there.

From the boat day party, street tacos, and a stunning house with ocean views, it was a blast celebrating the bride.

Here’s the full rundown of what we did, what worked (almost everything), and tips for anyone planning a bachelorette trip in Mexico!

Bachelorette Party In Mexico Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive In Punta Mita

We landed in Puerto Vallarta (PVR) and hopped in a van to our rental house near Punta Mita. The drive was about 45 minutes and flew by, we were so hyped and the van had drinks, it was perfect.

Our house… was insane. Ocean views, a private pool, staff, and a margarita waiting for you before the bags hit the floor. If possible, I highly recommend finding a rental with staff included — it makes a huge difference when traveling with a large group.

After settling in, having some snacks, and sipping a few welcome drinks, we headed to the nearby beach club for a pre-dinner cocktail and beach time.

Dinner was at a small restaurant in the nearby town called Tacos on the Street. It only sells one thing — ribeye tacos. And listen, I’m vegan 99% of the time but occasionally make exceptions. That taco? Worth it. I could’ve eaten four more.

In addition to good food, the restaurant was super casual, perfect for night one when everyone’s still easing into the trip.

Day 2: Boat Day

Boat day is the main event on any Mexico bachelorette trip and ours absolutely delivered. We were up at 6 am (yes, really) and out the door, leaving behind the bachelorette party decor already peeling off the walls.

We boarded the boat at 7:45 am, and it was tequila o’clock from the jump. Coffee? Sure. With Baileys? Of course. The crew was fully on board with the party vibes — we’re talking open bar, breakfast on board, and hip hop bumping by 8:15.

The first stop was my favorite: water activities! Paddle boarding, snorkeling, diving off the boat, and drinks delivered to your floating water mat. Honestly, I could’ve hung out there all day. It was the perfect mix of action and relaxation, and the best part is you can do as much or as little as you want, no pressure.

We then sailed to Yelapa, this adorable little town only accessible by boat. Picture narrow cobblestone paths, colorful homes, and sleepy beach dogs. We walked to a waterfall, grabbed some pomegranate margaritas, and browsed the street shops (bring pesos, most places don’t do cards here).

By the time we headed back to the boat, the energy had fully shifted to booze cruise. Shots were flowing, everyone was dancing in swimsuits, it was a blast.

We made it back to the house and somehow kept the energy going with a pool afterparty. That night, dinner was prepared for us at the house (again, having a chef is a game changer), followed by some chaotic-but-hilarious bachelorette games.

Day 3: Pool Party

We started slow on day 3 for obvious reasons. But it was perfect regardless, largely thanks to the unreal ocean view from our pool. It allowed us to caffeinate and ease into the day, all while watching the whales and dolphins pass by.

After another delicious breakfast, we cranked up the Spotify playlist, lathered on the SPF, inflated the unicorn floatie, and made a strong batch of margs for a casual pool party at the house.

Eventually we headed back to the beach club for a late lunch and more pool/beach time, and of course, some micheladas. We found seashells, had girl talk, and kept pushing back the time we were supposed to return to the house to get ready for dinner. It was so fun, but still relaxed, which was perfect after a long boat day yesterday.

Dinner that night was at Zicatela Punta de Mita, a gorgeous spot with an ocean view courtyard and great cocktails. The food was delicious, yet casual, and the service was excellent — great for a last night when you’re buzzed from the pool but still want a cute final dinner.

Day 4: Homebound

On our last morning, we had one last poolside breakfast and soaked in the ocean views before packing up.

The staff helped arrange our ride back to PVR, and let me warn you now — that airport is no joke on a Sunday during spring break. The security lines were manageable but the food lines were wild, if you’ve got a lounge pass, this is the place to use it.

It was all completely worth it though, while it feels good to be home, that was the kind of trip I wasn’t ready to leave.

Booking The Mexico Bachelorette Party

Where To Stay

If you can, go for a rental with a pool, ocean view, and definitely staff. It saves so much time and energy (and it’s more affordable than you may think when split among a large group). Some listings on Airbnb and Vrbo even include these services.

We stayed in a small community near Punta Mita called Real Del Mar. A majority of the homes in this community are private and not available for public rental (the girls who planned this trip worked in the travel industry and had connections to a home manager in the area).

I do see some publicly listed Real Del Mar rentals at Interentals though, which may be worth checking out. If the house doesn’t come with staff or a chef, ask the owner for a referral, a house manager is a common service in this part of Mexico.

Full disclosure though, the housing complex we stayed in was very quiet. We weren’t up late and weren’t making a ton of noise, so this neighborhood was a good fit for us.

If your group wants to stay up later and party at bars, a lodging option in nearby Puerto Vallarta or Sayulita may be a better alternative.

Getting Around

We had a driver take us everywhere in a van, which was all prearranged by our house manager. For a large group, you definitely want to organize transportation in advance, it makes getting around easy and efficient.

Additional Tips & Information

Below are some additional tips and information for your trip:

• Number 1, don’t forget cash! Many businesses in this area are cash only. We needed cash to pay for transportation, for the chef, for tipping, and for most drinks in Yelapa. Additionally, some businesses offered a significant discount for those paying in cash. In this part of Mexico, both Mexican pesos and US dollars were accepted.
• I’m repeating myself here, but it’s important… spend the money on nice lodging. For a large group, a good home base is essential. And trust me, the private pool is worth it. Whether it’s for a slow morning with poolside coffee or a margarita-fueled pool party, it’s so nice to have private space to use as you’d like. Bonus points if your rental comes with staff to handle meals and clean up, it’s money you’d be spending on restaurants anyway.
• Bring your own bachelorette party decor, but keep it light. A few decorations, floaties, and matching sunglasses or swimsuits, are more than enough. Remember, you have to transport all of this to Mexico (so maybe a book an airline with free bags, too!) And if you’re in charge of decor, enlist a few attendees to help with set up, it always takes longer than you’d think.
• Set up a little “hangover station” or “hangover kit” with Liquid I.V., coconut water, snacks, Advil, aloe and sunscreen. Everyone will silently thank you after a few rounds of tequila and sun exposure.
• But, remember, don’t drink the tap water in Mexico. Bottled water ONLY, even when brushing your teeth.
• Plan a special moment for the bride, whether it’s a toast, a silly game, or a thoughtful gift, carve out a time just for celebrating her.
• A lot of advance planning goes into a trip like this. Reading the above itinerary, it seems like we effortlessly bopped around Punta Mita celebrating the bride… and well, we did… but hours of advance planning made this possible. (At the very, very least, make dinner reservations and book all transportation in advance.)
