Taylor Swift Outfits: What To Wear For The Eras Tour (hundreds of ideas)

So you’re heading to Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour?

Whether you snatched up a ticket from the secondary market, spent an entire day in the Ticketmaster queue, or waited forever for your international dates, congratulations! You’re going to have the time of your life!

I went to the Eras Tour opening night in Glendale and was blown away by all the fun Taylor Swift outfits. Swifties really outdo themselves.

Below I’ll go into Taylor Swift outfit ideas by each era, plus concert outfits inspired by her iconic style. Some ideas are over the top and some are more subtle.

I also include tips on what you need for the Eras Tour, as I’m sure you’ve already heard from TikTok videos, this is a long concert, and you need to come prepared.

These tips are based on my personal experience, outfits are inspired by Taylor Swift herself, and the many amazing Eras outfits I witnessed on opening night.

Quick Note: This guide has been written by a Swiftie for fellow Swifties. I’ve linked where to purchase outfits, but please don’t feel pressured to buy a bunch of stuff. Most outfits can be put together with items already in your closet, by thrifting, or hitting up your local craft stores. Putting your own twist on the costume is half the fun!

So, without further ado, lets get into Taylor Swift outfits for the Eras Tour!

Taylor Swift Outfits & Era Tour Outfit Ideas

Tortured Poets Department Album

Tortured poets, dust off your Renaissance fair outfit or pull together your best asylum chic look for the Eras Tour. That’s right, move over glitter and sequins.

So far during the TTPD era, Taylor has given us a lot of black and white, plus Victorian pieces which are heavy on corsets, lace, and ruffles (Google: Victorian Mourning Dress).

The album has a dizzying number of literary references spanning from Peter Pan and The Little Mermaid to Macbeth and The Secret Garden, plus numerous references to famous poets and nods to the early 1900s film industry.

If you’ve always wanted to construct an outfit out of book pages or dress up as Shakespeare, this is your era.

Of course, you could always go literal and dress up as a black dog… or maybe an albatross.

All of this to say, costumes can go in drastically different directions for this album.

The Tortured Poets Department is still a very new album, and one I’m still digesting, I’ll add more looks as ideas come to me and if we get additional music videos.

Below are some costume ideas based on the TTPD looks we’ve seen so far including the “Fortnight” music video:

Midnights Album

Taylor’s 10th and most recent album, Midnights, is a fabulous theme to draw on for your Eras Tour outfit! In fact, this is the era which inspired my outfit for the concert!

Below are some looks inspired by the Lavender Haze music video, all items are linked in the caption:

Below are Anti Hero music video outfits:

Definitely one of the most fun looks from the Midnights era is the Bejeweled music video. Again, all items are linked in the caption below:

I recreated this Bejeweled look for the Eras Tour in Denver. After wearing a jumpsuit to my first Eras concert, I knew I wanted this to be two pieces, so I bought a corset and biker shorts.

The pockets in the shorts were incredibly handy during the show. The corset didn’t fit me quite right in the chest, so I wore a black bralette with it.

Each rhinestone was hand glued, front and back, and took about 7 hours to finish. It was totally worth it, I promise.

I bought two bags of rhinestones, three probably would’ve been better, I cut it close.

Below are the exact items I used:

Of course, you could also go for this version of Bejeweled

Below is the outfit I wore for the Glendale, AZ Eras Tour. This was inspired by her outfit to an MTV VMA’s after party in 2022.

I’ve linked some of the exact items I used below.

I already had a blue romper in my closet, so I don’t have an exact link for that. I used fabric glue and super glue to attach the sequin stars to my outfit.

Am I sad that I destroyed a lovely romper for a concert? A little.

But in the end, I had a marvelous time ruining everything.

Below are a few Midnights era outfits inspired by the aesthetic of the album.

I saw some lovely ladies at the concert dressed as Lavender Haze, Maroon, and Midnight Rain. Which were all really fun looks.

Red Tour Outfits

There’s no doubt, Red is one of the most popular eras to dress as. Taylor’s costumes during the Red tour were so fun!

Below is the iconic Taylor Swift 22 outfit. This is definitely one of the easiest Taylor Swift costumes to pull together.

In the Eras Tour she wears a modified version of the outfit above, with the shirt reading instead: “A Lot Going On At The Moment” and “Who’s Taylor Swift Anyway? Ew.”

Name a more iconic Taylor Swift look than the Red tour ringmaster costume? I die. It’s one of my personal favorites.

There are lots of ringmaster costumes out there, but wearing one on the same level as Taylor’s will require some heavy crafting or, you know, a professional costume designer.

Don’t want to craft? Check out this awesome replica on Etsy instead: Red Sequins Ringmaster Tailcoat

A significantly easier Red tour outfit is her opening outfit, linked below.

With this look she wears tights with a very subtle shimmer, which you could make by attaching small crystals to a pair of tights you already own.

If you’re looking for a Red themed outfit, below are some ideas:

If it’s going to be cold during your concert, consider dressing as the Red (Taylor’s Version) album cover.

Toss in the infamous red scarf, just because.

1989 Tour Outfits

Another iconic Taylor Swift era is 1989. The outfits are as bubbly as the album itself!

Below are two iconic looks from the 1989 tour. Again, all items are linked in the caption:

Sparkle Bomber Jacket (alt option Sparkle Bomber Jacket) | Black Shoes | White Sunglasses | Metallic Purple Skirt (top right) | Black Sparkle Crop Top (center) (alt option Black Sparkle Crop Top) | Maroon Skirt (bottom right) | Black Shorts | Black Sparkle Tank Top (bottom right)

This 1989 tour outfit is definitely an iconic one.

Despite its simplicity it will require a bit of crafting.

Looking for a fun group outfit idea? Consider Bad Blood outfits based on the much-loved music video.

There’s so many ways you can go about this, but it will probably involve some crafting. Below are a few base pieces worth considering.

Etsy sells leather scraps which could be great for making all the strappy accessories which accompany this outfit. Obviously, leave the fake ammunition at home.

You can buy leather scraps here: Black Leather Scraps & Multi-color Leather Scraps

Don’t forget the glue: Leather Glue

Fearless Era Outfits

Welcome to the Fearless era! Taylor’s second album in which she won her first Grammy for Album of the Year.

The Fearless era is also when the pop star began to don the classic Taylor Swift gold dress.

Fringe, sparkles, and cowboy boots were a major feature of this era. Below are some costume ideas based off outfits from the Fearless tour back in 2009 – 10.

Really quick note for the Fearless era, Taylor wore the number 13 on her hand for nearly every concert.

She says the number brings her luck. The 13 was made this using black sharpie and blue eye shadow. You can also buy temporary tattoos of the famous 13 drawing.

Here’s what you’ll need:

The You Belong With Me music video had a lot of gems which would be fun to replicate for the Eras concert.

Below are the supplies you’ll need to recreate her cheerleader outfit, famous Junior Jewels shirt, and band costume which she also used for the Fearless tour.

Reputation Outfits

♪ Big reputation, big reputation ♪

God, I loved this era. It’s definitely one of Taylor’s most unique.

Taylor wore a lot of black jumpsuits during the Reputation tour which matched the edgy songs on the album.

If you’re up for crafting this could be really fun project. But there are some pre-made jumpsuits you can buy on Etsy as well.

I’ve linked various options below.

Up first are the Etsy options, second are the crafting options.

Below are a few items you’ll need to bejewel the black jumpsuits linked above.

Happy crafting!

Below is Taylor Swift’s Blind For Love outfit from the Look What You Made Me Do music video.

In the video she wears a large, oversized sweater, which could be great for those attending spring concerts.

For those going to summer concerts, a tank top version of the outfit would be more appropriate.

Either way, this is definitely one of the easiest Reputation era outfits to recreate.

Lover Era Outfits

If you adore all things rainbow and pastel, the Lover era is for you.

Such a shame we didn’t see everything Taylor had in store for cancelled Lover Fest back in 2020.

The handful of looks we did get were excellent. This could be my favorite Taylor Swift era in terms of costumes.

Below are a few popular looks from the Lover era:

Below is fun look from Taylor Swift’s 2019 AMA performance.

This is when she accepted the Artist of the Decade award, and made a statement regarding her stolen music.

My lovely cousin, Allison, rocked this look for the Chicago Eras Tour.

The next Lover era Taylor Swift costume is for tie dye experts and extra crafty Swifties.

I’ve yet to find anything pre-made that even closely resembles this iconic Lover era look.

If you’re able to piece together this look I’d be so excited to see it!

Below are looks based off the iconic You Need To Calm Down music video:

This was the look I recreated for Taylor-gating in Denver.

I used a white skirt because I already owned one, but the exact skirt I own also comes in pink, which would match the look better.

Below are the pieces I bought:

Oh, and of course, there’s this gem from the You Need To Calm Down music video as well…

Below are some Lover era inspired outfits:

Speak Now Outfits

If you’ve always wanted to wear a ball gown or tulle get up to a concert, then Speak Now is your era.

Taylor wore lots of sparkly a-line ball gowns during this time period, as well as her signature short, sparkly dresses with boots.

Below are a few looks based off Speak Now tour costumes, and a photo of my beautiful cousin, Lauren, in her Speak Now-inspired outfit at the Chicago Eras show…

Don’t forget the 13 on your hand!

Below are a few more Speak Now looks.

These are more-so inspired by the outfits we’ve seen from Speak Now (Taylor’s Version).

Folklore Era Outfits

Ah, Folklore, easily one of the best eras and, personally, my favorite Taylor Swift album.

Taylor gives us a surprising number of looks from this era despite it never having a tour of its own.

These outfits aren’t the most concert-esque but can be with some creativity.

Otherwise, this era is perfect for Swifties seeking a more casual concert outfit.

For more of a whimsical, or erm, Mirrorball, approach to the era, check out the outfit ideas below:

Want to sew Oscar de la Renta’s stunning Grammys flower dress yourself?

You can buy the fabric on Etsy: Embroidered Flower Fabric.

Taylor Swift Evermore Outfits

We don’t get a lot from Evermore in terms of outfit ideas.

The jacket from the cover is, of course, classic but that’s about all we get from the album photos.

The Willow music video, on the other hand, does gives us a few fun outfit ideas, of which I’ve linked below.

Also, I did see someone at the concert dressed as an actual willow tree.

So really Swifties, get as creative as you’d like.

Another fun outfit idea from Evermore is Champagne Problems.

You could put your own twist on this fan-favorite with a deranged bride sort of vibe… I picture rips in the veil and mascara running.

This song gives us a lot to play with in terms of costume ideas.

Also, did anyone else ugly cry when they first heard this song? Or was that just me?

Taylor Swift Era Outfits

Taylor Swift’s debut album launched in 2006 when she was only 16 years old. This era sees lots of simple dresses and country outfits.

The looks were fitting for the star’s age, and the fact that she was opening for big country names, like George Strait and Brad Paisley, in between shows at intimate country music venues.

During this era she rocked the long curly hair and her make up featured a dark, smokey eye and nude lip.

According to an interview, Taylor was not allowed to wear red lipstick for most of her teenage years. Which is why we don’t see the iconic red lip until the Fearless era.

Also, props to whoever can figure out how to recreate the famous “Taylor Swift” cowboy boots of the debut era… You know, the baby blue ones with hearts and flames.

Below are a few looks inspired by the debut era.

On the right is my gorgeous cousin, Lisa, rockin’ a debut look for her very first Taylor Swift concert <3.

The last look from Taylor’s very first era is one she wore performing Our Song at the CMT Country Music Awards in 2007.

This was one of her very first live performances at an award show. You can watch here if you so desire: Taylor Swift CMT Awards 2007.

A cardboard cut out of a sparkly guitar wouldn’t be a bad addition to the look…

Taylor Swift Red Carpet & Award Show Outfits

Taylor has so many iconic red carpet looks, it’s impossible to list them all.

However, below are a few of my favorite TS looks from over the years.

Take your costume to the next level with a Grammys, American Music Award, or VMA trophy replica!

Taylor Swift Aesthetic Costume

Below are outfit ideas which foster the Taylor Swift aesthetic, but aren’t specific to a particular era or costume.

Sparkly dresses and boots were the most common look I saw at the Eras Tour, and it’s no wonder!

This is an iconic Taylor Swift look and it’s easy to pull off.

Below are some fun sparkly dresses inspired by Taylor’s style.

All items are linked in the caption below and many pieces come in different colors:

Below are some skirts, shorts, and fun tops for the Taylor Swift Eras Tour concert:

Below are jackets for the Taylor Swift Eras Tour concert:

Below are shoes suitable for the Eras Tour.

As you’ve probably heard, comfortable shoes are a must for this concert.

We were on our feet for over 8 hours at the Eras Tour.

From arriving to the stadium, walking around, standing in the merchandise line, watching Taylor’s 3 hour performance plus headliners — while standing the entire time — then finding a ride home.

It’s a long day.

I saw a lot of barefoot Swifties after the Glendale concert. Don’t say I didn’t warn ya.

If you wear a shoe with any sort of heel, be sure to get insoles.

You can buy some here: Shoe Insoles.

Casual Taylor Swift Outfits

If sequins dresses are a bit much for you, consider a more laid-back concert look instead.

Sport the new Eras merchandise or old merch from former tours.

You can buy Eras Tour official merchandise here: Taylor Swift Official Merchandise.

Below are some casual Taylor Swift t-shirts and tank tops for the concert.

You can pair these with fun pieces, linked above, or more casual bottoms.

Note: If you’re attending the Eras Tour from out of town, you may want a casual Taylor Swift outfit for daytime looks around town. We saw a lot of Swifies around town in TS merch during the weekend of the Glendale shows. During my weekend in Erazona, I wore a Folklore shirt with denim shorts.

Below are some casual Taylor Swift outfit ideas, all pieces are linked in the captions:

Below are some casual bottoms to go with your Taylor Swift t-shirts and tank tops above.

Below are some fun Taylor Swift shoes:

Last, a really easy thing to do for Taylor Swift outfits is to customize shirts, jackets, or tank tops.

You can add your favorite era or song lyrics to a plain top, the creative options are limitless.

Below are some pieces which can easily be customized. Most items come in multiple colors:

Below are some iron on letters and decorations to take your outfit to the next level.

If you can’t find iron on pieces you like, just buy regular craft (or scrapbooking) stickers and adhere them with fabric glue or fabric tape — this is what I do.

Funny Taylor Swift Outfits

There are lots of funny Taylor Swift costumes you can put together.

Think Taylor Swift as The Man, Taylor after Lasik — if you haven’t seen that clip from The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, it’s a must — Blank Space music video Taylor when she’s acting crazy, and so on.

You could even dress as one of Taylor’s cats, or a Cornelia Street sign, zombie Taylor from LWYMMD music video, the sky is the limit.

Or just take something random from one of her songs and be that. Don’t simply wear a red scarf, be a red scarf, be a dog dyed key lime green, a mirrorball, a champagne bottle, a crumpled up piece of paper, two paper airplanes flying, or a cheap ass screw-top rosé…

You get the gist.

Group Taylor Swift Outfit Ideas

If you’re going to the concert with a group, consider coordinated Taylor Swift outfits.

A super easy and fun idea is to have each group member dress up as an Era. Or have everyone dress as a different Taylor within the same era.

For example, some dress in her iconic red carpet look from that time, a few others dress in her concert looks from that era, etc.

Another idea is to have everyone dress as a different Taylor from a specific music video.

An easy example for this would be the Anti Hero music video – you’ve got good Taylor, bad Taylor, giant Taylor, ghost Taylor, etc.

Another example would be dressing as the many characters in the You Belong With Me music video.

Going in a pair? Consider ideas like Romeo & Juliet from Love Story, Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince, french fries & hamburger from the You Need To Calm Down music video.

Or simply be two versions of Taylor from the same era or from the same music video.

Taylor Swift Outfits For Guys

Guys looking Taylor Swift costumes can play with themes from the eras above, think ringmaster from Red or the band costume from Fearless era.

Additionally, you could recreate male characters from songs or music videos.

Tim McGraw, Brendon Urie’s ME!, prince from the Love Story music video, her sons from Anti Hero, one of the guys from the Blank Space video, Mr. Perfectly Fine, etc.

You could also simply match the color scheme of an era, if you don’t want to be as literal.

Men looking for sparkly jackets, tops, and pants to match the Taylor Swift aesthetic, check out websites like Ciciful or Shein, both linked.

Additionally, UTINNyc on Etsy is a really fun shop with unique pieces for both men and women: UTINNyc Etsy

I went to the Eras Tour concert with a guy friend who bought a bomber jacket then added his favorite era to the back.

Below are some plain jackets and tops which can be customized with an era or favorite Taylor Swift lyrics.

Most pieces linked below come in a wide variety of colors.

All items are linked in the captions below:

Below are iron on letters and decals to customize your Taylor Swift outfit.

If you can’t find iron ons you like, just get regular craft stickers and adhere with fabric tape or fabric glue.

This is what I did for my Taylor Swift outfit.

Below are some mens Taylor Swift t-shirts.

Keep in mind, many shirts linked above in the women’s section can be purchased in larger sizes to fit men, and some come in men specific sizing.

For the dads, boyfriends, and husbands being totted along, consider the following t-shirts:

What To Bring To The Eras Tour

Alright, I know you’ve heard this a million times but it’s a long day at the Eras Tour.

There’s almost 5 hours of music during the concert. Plus time required to get into the stadium, get out of the stadium, and get yourself home.

Not to mention, some will most certainly arrive early to tackle the merch line.

Overall, it’s easily an 8+ hour day.

Two things I did not bring, which I regretted: Water bottle and snacks.

By the time Taylor got on stage I was hungry and thirsty, despite having eaten before I left the house.

If your stadium allows it, bring a reusable water to fill before the concert begins and pack a few snacks in a clear bag.

A 3 hour sing-along is dehydrating!

Two items I brought and was grateful for: A portable phone charger and comfortable shoes.

The concert will drain your phone battery, which you probably need to get home.

I requested an Uber six times in Glendale with no avail, before we gave up and (thankfully) found a cab. That was brutal on my already drained phone battery.

Additionally, I’m so happy I wore comfortable shoes! 8+ hours of walking and/or standing on concrete is a lot.

Cozy shoes are a no brainer, but I saw so many fans in heels… Yikes. If you insist on wearing heels, please at least bring some flip flops as back up.

If you’re bringing a bag, it must be clear. Even small fanny packs, like the popular Lululemon Everywhere Belt Bag, are prohibited at some stadiums.

I saw ladies turned away at the entrance with these small bags.

What To Bring To The Taylor Swift Concert:

  • Clear bag
  • Clear reusable water bottle
  • Snacks in clear bag
  • Portable phone charger
  • Earplugs
  • Comfortable shoes (if wearing heels, bring flip flops just in case)

Be sure to check your stadium’s exact guidelines.

Below are a few items you may need for the Eras concert.

Also, check out these super cute clear bags from Etsy:

Taylor Swift Friendship Bracelets

♪ Make the friendship bracelets. Take the moment and taste it. ♪

Wow, Swifties really took the ‘make the friendship bracelets’ line of “You’re On Your Own, Kid” to heart.

It’s a really fun accessory that just about every fan wears to the concert and film.

You can make the friendship bracelets however you’d like, with era names, lyrics, etc.

Be sure to make extras and trade with fellow Swifties at the concert.

Below is everything you need to make the friendship bracelets:

Taylor Swift Red Lip

The red lip is a staple throughout most of Taylor’s career, so below I linked red lipstick options.

Taylor has been said to use the NARS and M.A.C. lipsticks linked below.

Of course, you could also support one of Taylor’s besties, Selena Gomez. She owns the very popular brand, Rare Beauty.

No matter which you use, these will have you rockin’ that red lip, classic thing we all like.

Taylor Swift Eras Nails

In an Instagram post leading up to the Eras Tour, Taylor showed us her skittles manicure.

For those who don’t know, this is a manicure in which every nail is a different color.

Although, in true TS fashion, they weren’t any ol’ random colors.

Each color represented one of her 10 eras. With Taylor Swift debut era starting on her left pinkie and most recent Midnights era ending on her right pinkie.

Swifties have since been recreating the fun nail art and, of course, adding their own twists.

Below are the nail polish colors you’ll need to recreate the eras nails. For some eras I included a few options.

All products are linked in the caption below.

If you’re looking for the least expensive polishes check out: Sally Hansen Hard As Nails & Sally Hansen Insta-dri.

Between these two lines you should be able to find every era color.

Taylor’s nails were really simple but I’ve seen fans advance the look with fun additions.

Below are some nail art goodies to level up your eras nails.

For something more subtle you could do all nails in a neutral color with a simple nail jewel on each finger representing an era.

Taylor Swift “13” On Hand

Taylor wore the number 13 on her hand for many concerts during the Fearless and Speak Now eras.

She says the number brings her luck.

She made this using black sharpie and blue eye shadow. You can also buy temporary tattoos of the famous 13 drawing

Eras Tour Weekend Packing List

For those coming in from out of town for the Eras Tour, below is a packing list.

This closely follows my packing list for Glendale, Arizona’s show.

  • One pair of cozy shorts or leggings (for travel)
  • Cardigan (for travel)
  • 1 – 2 Taylor Swift shirts (for travel/ around town)
  • Tennis shoes
  • Costume(s)
  • Proper under garments for your costume
  • Craft glue and super glue (for craft touch ups before the concert, if needed)
  • Comfortable shoes for the show
  • Clear bag
  • Portable phone charger
  • Reusable water bottle

And with that, I leave you with these photos from the Fearless tour back in 2009.

Yes, I saw Taylor Swift in the 3rd row (!!!). Things were a bit different back then.

How fun to watch how it’s all evolved.

My fellow Swifties, I love you and hope you have the best time at the Eras concert.

It’s an incredible show, TS puts everything she has into it, and Lord knows us Swifities put all we have into it as well.

Please be safe, have fun, enjoy the moment, and long live all the magic we made.

If you have any friends looking for Taylor Swift Eras Tour outfits, please send this guide their way!

Taylor, I had the best day with you in Erazona and Denver, thank you!
